Today I leave for my mancation

I am excited to be going on my Mancation** (term stolen from Lonnie Bruner) today. I will get to drive my new Jeep in the mountains just west of Williamsport PA.

Here is a pic of the cabin..

**Lonnie - Wikipedia has no entry on Mancation. Maybe you can create one. :-)

We will be in a remote area in a very rustic hunting cabin with pit toilets outside. Lots of card playing, drinking, eating, and tomfoolery will be taking place. the only heart source is a wood burning stove.

Thanks to Lonnie for the reccomendation of the correct version of Wild Turkey to get. I will have a couple on the rocks as a salute to Hunter S. Thompson, as that was his favorite Drink.

Full report will be coming when i return.

My small contribution to the destruction of the earth

This past december, my old clunker (1992 Nissan Sentra) started to show signs ofmechanical wear after 170,000 miles on it. It still ran great but I didnt want to put any money into it. It was time for a new (used) vehicle.

I started to research the Hybrids, namely the Toyota Prius. I had driven a rental Prius last year and wasnt that impressed with the gas mileage or the ride for that matter. So I thought , well the hybrid technology is a few years older now, and it should be better, and maybe it is, but I still didnt notice any significant gas savings than my Nissan.

So I totally said fuck it. I want something fun - I guess it's my pre-mid-life crisis.
So I bought a used Jeep Wrangler. I have always wanted one, and so, I got one.

Now some of you ( the 3 peeople that actually read this) may say well you should do something to help the environment, and I know that we all share some of that resposibility. My answer to you is... since I work from home i barely drive. Last year I only drove 850 miles. So there! That's my contrbution.
